Discussion about
Why are brokers listing fake apartment numbers for rentals? For example, a new (re-) list with apartment 7DD (when apt 7D was listed and removed or rented recently). Or D3D instead of 3D, or 6B4 instead of 6B. It's easy to see the past rentals listing history and see these are the same apartments. If mildly interested, it makes me less eager to contact them for more information. Are they the real apartments and brokers and trying to make it look like apartments are renting, or could these be fake/scams? Thanks!
One possible answer is that they don't want people seeing a big "days on market" number.
Or they don’t want people to see how much they’re decreasing the rent, in addition to how many days it’s been on the market... then people might start getting the idea the rents are negotiable and renters, not landlords, currently have the upper hand.
Could also be that they are attempting to hide the history from future listings. I.e., in 2022 or whenever prices make a recovery.
Or the listing is not an exclusive , and they do not want other brokers contacting the renter.
