Discussion about
Was hoping to get some advice. I recently purchased a parlor level apt in a brownstone. Sometime next year I'm hoping to do a bigger renovation project, notably new bathrooms and kitchen and also potentially soundproofing some ceilings. Not planning on moving walls/structural changes. Would it be a waste to install a split air system before then, i.e. before this summer? I hate window units and would prefer to switch to split air sooner rather than later, but if it's generally better to wait and do it all at once, I guess I could live with them for another year. What do you think?
Doing it altogether is always cheaper. Do not forget that split indoor units need water condensation removal which needs to be connected to drains. So it is not just running lines from outdoor unit to the indoor units.
Get something like this in the meantime: https://www.build.com/product/summary/1455492
