Discussion about 885 West End Avenue #3B
This unit with a Rent Stabilized tenant was sold at foreclosure about 2 decades ago. We bought the deal, bought out the tenant, and did a very nice restoration job. This included all new electric, new kitchen, extensive plaster and woodwork, bathroom restoration, and some layout changes which required us to have custom millwork to match the original. The only changes I can see from when we delivered the project are:
- Kitchen cabinets painted white (originally clear maple)
- Paint colors in some areas (originally all white)
- Ceiling fans added in bedrooms
- Light fixture in Living Room
I am very proud of how well this renovation has held up and think it shows if you do quality work it withstands the test of time. I also think it shows if you to good period restorations (aside from kitchens perhaps) you don't have to worry about the design work falling out of fashion.
Bravo, 30. This looks beautiful and has clearly held up well. I totally agree that well-done period renovations are always on point and generally the best way to go.
It's gorgeous, 30.
The return of 30!
Good floorplan, tasteful renovation. It really does highlight how a well designed space with good architectural detail can remain good looking and relevant throughout time. I'd live there. (but yes, I'm glad I'm not cooking with the the original kitchen equipment). Part of me wants to turn that one bedroom into a library that opens onto the LR, which would create a nearly 40' enfilade.
