what's the latest and greatest for internet?

FIOS is already more than fast enough.
Have Gigabit in the city and wife&I were both WFH using laptops for Remote Desktop plus iPads for zoom, while having TV streaming CNBC.. not a hiccup.

Outside the city we have cable which is 300Mbit down (1/3 our FIOS speed) and only like 40Mbit down (1/25th FIOS.. cable is asymmetric so this is typical). WFH here doing the same and the only difference we notice is on the upload side if we go to iMessage/whatsapp/whatever a photo you actually see a progress bar for a blip before it fully goes out.

Given the experience we are probably going to downgrade our FIOS speed on next renewal as we're obviously overpaying for speed we don't need, even as multi-device power user geeks.
