Discussion about
Thought I'd start a thread with side-by-side comparisons of what was available last year vs. now in the NYC RE market. There's probably a bias in what I post, as it'll be the best of what was available last year against the typical of what's available now. But it's all in good fun. I'll put up rentals, as that's what I stare at, but buyers out there should do the same.
Last year: https://streeteasy.com/rental/2938048
Now: https://streeteasy.com/building/residences-at-the-mandarin-oriental/73e
So for a 20% higher ask, you used to be able to get:
- 2.5x the square footage
- 2 extra feet of ceiling height
- better exposures (more expansive; park-facing)
- no-expense-spared designer renovation vs. developer finishes
Great stuff for sure,
and another example of Buyers need to be aggressive when the world is "coming to an end"
with the crooks keep adding digits to money quantity, there are so many ends to the worse and starting of the worst
