I would start with your super for a small job like this.

I getting quotes of $10 k just to paint….

1 color paint (door can be different color) will take 3-4 days for one person assuming walls are in good condition and do not need anything besides picture hole filling. So super will probably do it for $1000-$1200 plus cost of materials (around $500-$750 with protection etc) or will get you one of his friends. Or go to Janovic. They have painters around for $250 per day. No insurance. The moment you want insurance, it will triple the price as you are working with a proper company.
