Discussion about
I want to install a fancy Japanese toilet (not just the seat, but the whole toilet) in my coop. Is there anything I should know? Any compatibility issues?

Ah. Not that simple. You need back-set as a minimum assuming the toilet you have it floor outlet. In addition, you may want to measure the floor space the new one covers to ensure that there are no ugly spots to be covered on the floor if the new toilets foot print is smaller than what you have. Then water connection and left or right flush.
