Does anyone have experience with this? Is this something a plumber handles?

Technically you're supposed to get an NYC permit, and the work must be done by a licensed master plumber (plumber should be able to do an efiling).

Thanks. I'm hearing the days of replacing gas appliances in NYC may be coming to an end.

Possibly not in our lifetimes... The "gas appliance ban" starts to take effect in 2026 for smaller buildings, and larger buildings in 2029. This assumes the current legal challenges don't go anywhere. But, this is only for ground-up new construction (i.e., new buildings, not remodels). Gas appliances in existing units can be replaced, and given the life of a building, a unit could conceivably retain a gas stove for a loooooong time.

I seriously considered replacing the gas stove with an induction top and electric oven when I bought & remodeled in 2011, but it would have required running new power to the apartment, which was beyond what I was willing to invest given my limited amount of cooking at home.
