Discussion about
Apparently, if an agent posts something on a listing which is fairly obviously untrue and there is a user complaint, all the agent has to do is refuse to respond to emails from StreetEasy regarding the issue and the data stands. One would think silence would indicate that there was no justification for the false information and the default setting would be that the information would be removed until the agent justified it being there. If I can post anything I want on a listing, and if someone challenged it all I need to do is not respond to the challenge, then there is no data integrity on StreetEasy.

SE would certainly be a better, more reliable resource if there were follow-up (consequences) to complaints about inaccurate data.

I have seen a few instances where I suspect the exposure is all wrong - it says South facing when other units in that line face East. True most East facing units are really ESE but still.

The overall data quality on SE is down substantially from 3/5/10 years ago for sure.

Even the recording of sales closing status I frequently see stuff falsely marked as sold when it was simply delisted, and other times stuff sits "in contract" for months past its closing date.. if the official closing price record ever flows through.

Maybe their ACRIS scraping code broke.

We had a Brooklyn listing about 6 months ago, definitely unique with a large beautiful yard and wonderfully renovated. It was listed as a two-bedroom in the offering plan, and had been used as a two bedroom, however, it may have been about 10 ft² short of complying? It wound up going into a multiple bidding situation with eight offers.

I'm guessing someone pointed this out to streeteasy, and with no email to me, the listing agent, simply reduced it to a one bedroom in the streeteasy listing. They sent me an email stating it didn't meet their standards for a two bedroom, even after I sent them a photo of the offering plan stating it was listed as a two-bedroom.

Anyway, that's my recent experience. I'm guessing somebody brought this to their attention? Only because I've seen numerous listings which don't technically meet the qualifications of a two bedroom and go unchallenged by SE.

And to be clear SE didn't send me an email first with an explanation. They simply changed the listing, when I noticed the change, I inquired what happened and then they told me the listing didn't meet their criteria.

We also helped them purchase it and then buy a new townhouse in Brooklyn.

Keith,
It appears a large part of the criteria is the size of the firm you work at.
