I suppose there are all sorts of reasons this could happen -- a new job offer in another city might trump losing one's $40K down payment -- but I haven't seen it in my almost two decades of selling apartments. And I remark upon it in case it buttresses anyone's theory of how shaky the market is. UWS studio, FWIW.
