When a listing goes straight from "Available" to "Sold"

I know this was posted before but I can't remember the answer. Is this a glitch in the system or does it not capture "In Contract" sometimes as the broker does not update that step between "Available" and "Sold". Or sometimes is it suppose to be "Unavailable" instead of "Sold"?
Sometimes the broker updates the listing as "sold" manually without disclosing the final sales price - usually this is to imply the final listing price is the same as the sales price even if the sales price is a significant discount from the final listing price. You'll know this is the case if there is no link to ACRIS to verify the final sales price.
You can still find the price out from ACRIS though, can't you?
Nope - some listings that have sold somehow have managed to keep their sales prices from being posted on ACRIS. I don't know how they do it, but this happened on a property that we were interested in purchasing earlier this year. There is another thread on this issue. I've even tried to get in touch with the ACRIS people about it, with no real solution. The incentive for the buyer to keep the actual sales price hidden is obvious - when it comes time to sell they can keep the last listing price as the last price associated with the listing even if the property was sold at a significant discount - thus making it appear as if they paid more for the property than they actually did.
Amity, can you post the listings here, or send them to support@streeteasy.com, and we will also look into why there are no ACRIS listings for them.
Thanks
Here is an example: http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/254776-coop-54-west-82nd-street-upper-west-side-new-york
It never went "In Contract" on either Streeteasy or the broker website which makes me believe that its been taken off the market as opposed to sold as usually when they are sold they linger on the broker site or at least are shown "In Contract" on their for a while prior to closing...
What about this one: http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/135924-condop-1175-york-avenue-lenox-hill-new-york
Exactly....if they we're truly "sold" they usually stay on the website to show everyone "look at me, I sold another apartment"...

I just went through about 10 "sold" and I would say the majority we're like this with it just saying "sale closed" with no price
