Discussion about
My understanding is that the sponsor is the builder or owner/rehabber of the building who is selling his units. I'm surprised to see a 1931 building with sponsor units. I guess the family or company has held these units all these years & is now selling them.?

drdrd--That is not uncommon at all. Most prewar buildings converted within the last 30 years or so. The age of the building itself has nothing to do with how long sponsors have held property there--it all depends on when the building went co-op.

I live in a prewar building that converted in the 1980s-some of the tenants were then-seniors who could not be kicked out of their rental apartments -- as those tenants hit their late 80s and 90s, the apartments are slowly becoming available -- your building may be in a similar situation.

I live in the UWS-- some people in their 20's and 30's didn't buy in an 80's conversion. But if you know that much detail you should know the year of the conversion-

It's the Southgate buildings over on East 52nd Street; I guess it was just the age of the buildings that confused me. Thanx for the feedback.
