Discussion about
Ok, here's the thread about Woodside, Qns. What are people's thoughts about the neighborhood? Best areas to live? Perks? Drawbacks? Current pricing? Best brokers?

I dont think most people on this thread would know alot about Woodside. There is a new development going up on 61st. Lots of small developments around the area. Its a very diverse neighborhood. The Woodside area close to the 7 train and LIRR is a good location. You will definitely find better pricing than LIC but of course its 2 very different areas. One would really have to spend a day in the neighborhood to know if its an area for them.

thanks shong - there are a few sunnysiders on the board, was hoping they'd jump in here about Woodside.
I only know a few blocks really of Woodside though I live just a few minutes away. What about prewar buildings? Any notable coop buildings?

Woodside is a solid middle class area with good transportation except for the area south of Queens Blvd east of the cemetary. There's nothing going on in the neighborhood, but that can be a good thing. The 61st Street Woodside train station is a bit ghetto with the ugly elevated tracks and the metal resonates the train noise. I much prefer the look and sound dampening of the 7 train along Queens Blvd where it is concrete. The area south of QB, is more like Sunnyside South than the rest of Woodside. It's a cheaper and slightly less desirable area than the north side. Celtic Park is a good sized coop development on the border of Sunnyside and Woodside with a few 2 BR apts asking around $300k. Other coops are mostly single 6 story buildings with 40-120 apts. I'd stay near the Sunnyside area near QB to be closer to the restaurants. 61st Street also has some notable restaurants, but mostly 99 cent stores.

I have always wondered -- why didn't they continue the nice cement train tracks along QnsBlvd in Sunnyside throughout the line?

The Sunnyhill building on 51st looks to be nice, as do Berkley Towers and Celtic Park is beautiful. Further east than that I need to explore more.

the 61st woodside stop is much like the W/R line in Astoria, loud and metal
