Surely Rufus will tell you that somehow...someway...this is simply incorrect.

and then he will remind us that NY has projects...for whatever reason.

kspeak, hey dumbass! that map is only for states, not cities. Illinois is in recession because southern and western parts of the state are doing really bad. Chicago is holding up pretty well though.

1) "doing really badLY" ... Didn't they teach you grammar at the high school in Gary, IN?

2) It's funny how you lump NYC and NY State together when convenient (posting all kinds of articles about NY State's budget deficit), then act like Chicago and IL are two different things when it's convenient for you. News flash: they are related. Seeing that Chicago is probably 1/2 of Illinois' economy, I doubt the entire state would be in recession if the state were flourishing.

3) Can you please locate NY State on the map. I just want to make sure you actually know where it is. Thanks!

Alaska is not in a recession YEAH! This is great news since I just bought a condo in Wasilla with an awesome view of Russia.

Oil doesn't have to stay high for Alaska to make money. Alaska taxes the activities of the oil companies whether oil is high or low. So long as they pump oil, explore, drill, work in Alaska, Alaska makes money. The state doesn't have to make that much to run well anyway. If you want to work there, you pretty much can--plenty of employment opportunities. Energy costs are killer for consumers there, and food can be costly depending what and where you buy, but all in all, Alaska has a pretty terrific quality of life. A recent visit really impressed me. And contrary to the monolithic redness we in the lower 48 see there, the state is about 40% democrat and more diverse than many think. Is it hard to run the state? Not so much. Is Wasilla nice? Not so much, although the views from there are great: mountains--not Russia.

I always thought Alaska ought to have been part of Canada. Didn't Russia own it once?

Yes, the United States purchased Alaska. Huge windfall for us.

Now, imagine if we had just rented Alaska how much worse off we'd be than now that we own it.
