Discussion about
My husband and I are looking to buy a 3BR apt in the UWS. We have been looking units at 200, 220, 240 Riverside Boulevard - Trump buildings. We would love to get some advice or suggestions - about the price, neighborhood...

the tax abatement for these buildings is coming up and heard the unabatement amount is a lot especially for # 200 ( think that was the 1st one to come up out of the whole stretch).
plus, there is potential construction in the future to rebuild the motorway to be underground instead of keeping it where it is now - above.
if that's not a problem, then neighborhood wise it is clean , safe, area, quiet, good for family. location is very far out to the west, but if you walk couple of avenues across towards broadway/ columbus -lots of shops/ restaurants. nearest subway is about 7 - 10 mins away. but there is a shuttle that runs bk and forth for these buildings. can be extremely cold/ windy during winter periods. overall, good area if you're planning to live there forever and retire, but if you are looking more for convenience, it is stil a bit far out esp for your day to day errands.

agreed, will probably be nice in 10-15 years, when it's no longer a constant construction site. i've also read that common charges seem to be headed north as well.

I have lived in 160 for 4 years. As a renter it has been okay, but I am now looking to purchase on the UWS and I would never consider the complex. Pros - Safe area, good for families, pets and Riverside Park is nice and generally quiet. Buses are right in front of the buildings. Cons - As the previous post states it is always windy and the it is freezing in the winter (this one being the exception). There is nothing down there. Finally after all these years they are putting a grocery store in 180. But for everything else it is a 10-minute walk and getting a cab can be difficult.

If you have a family, it is a fantastic area to buy. You will make good friends with other parents in your building and the neighboring buildings. Pets? Great to have the park in front of you.

Like the 160 resident, my biggest pet peeves are 1) Wind tunnel, especially in the winter (although it is nice in the summer to have the extra breeze) 2) Nothing really that close by - although I think that is changing and will continue to change as the Extell developments (80 and 100 Riverside) are built. Once retailers realize that there are 9 buildings with 300-500 residents on average, a lot of whom are stay-at-home moms, they will build more stores in the area.
