Discussion about
I thought only broker-listed properties were posted here. How did this get listed? http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/336508-coop-323-east-8th-street-east-village-new-york I'm not complaining... I think it would be better to have FSBO's, but I didn't think that was the policy.
Yeah, I want to list my FSBO on this site, so how do I do it? I figured you guys were all working in the industry and not interested in a fair and level playing field.
I always thought the brokers were advertisers (the main source of revenue) for streeteasy, and thought they had some agreement to not allow FSBO's. I'm not sure where I heard that, but it was a long time ago, so who knows?
I see, silence from the StreetEasy administrators....

My attempt at listing my FSBO property has been denied based on the fact that I am owner-represented.
Therefore, in the interest of fairness, I believe this other FSBO ad should be removed from StreetEasy. The guy has been on since August! Why did it take you guys so long to find this ad?
For those of you listed FSBO, Noah at www.urbandigs.com is offering free adveritising for FSBOs.
Hmm, that other FSBO ad is still on StreetEasy. So much for the level playing field and the fair deal.
How about throwing the guy's ad off of your system or start charging to place a FSBO ad on your site. It would be nice to be given some numbers on how many searches are done on you site every day. You guys feel like taking on the Times? ;-)
407PAS, I think that apartment is owned by a broker. I assume brokers can list whatever they want, including their own apartments.
Yes, the owner is a broker
I was wondering the same thing... that never occurred to me. Actually, I thought if a realtor was selling property, he was always representing his firm. Oh well, no big deal.
Hahaha, I saw this coming. Owners who are brokers should never be allowed to represent their own properties in a sales transaction. After all, they are trying to keep too much of the transaction costs for themselves, will not price their properties realistically when compared to other properties on the market, are not serious, are generally crazy, keep their listing on until they become stale, and are not bound by any code of ethics when selling their own properties.
Perhaps the left side of the brain of a broker who is selling his own place can act as the owner while the right brain can act as the broker. If the two sides of the same brain get into a dispute, can the left side sue the right side? ;-)
I may be willing to put-up a website for FSBO. Would you pay to post? How much? How about if I had online advertising in the NYT and on StreetEasy?
I have been looking to sell as FSBO. How would you get traffic to your site if you put up a fsbo site? Wouldn't everybody look at Streeteasy anyway?
Well, since you can't post on StreetEasy, I'm thinking the next best thing is to have an advertisment on StreetEasy that links to the FSBO....would that work? Same for NYT?
Speaking as an FSBO, I think the only thing I'm missing is appearing as a listing in a Streeteasy search. Posting on the NYT doesn't make you viewable on SE.
I think you're prohibited from listing on StreetEasy as a FSBO. That was the response I received when I tried to list. I have to believe the traffic on the Times real estate section beats StreetEasy substantially, although StreetEasy is a good source of historical data.
I think any new FSBO site would suffer from low traffic numbers so the New York Times is still our best bet. Now, if the Times stopped listing FSBO ads, I think we would have a viable chance at producing a FSBO website. ;-)

Anyone else you want to go after today? ENOUGH!!!!!!
Hahaha, I quoted all of the criticism thrown at me and other FSBO sellers, lighten up, it was a joke....
so you are a broker selling your own apartment?
No, I am an owner, not a broker. I was pointing out the irony of a broker selling his own place FSBO.
For anyone on here that is selling FSBO or has in the past...besides the Times online and print, what other outlets (sites, papers, etc.) would you recommend using for the most exposure?
I am selling FSBO and will start listing this week. Thanks for the help and any other tips you can give.
I hadn't realized that FSBO's weren't allowed here. Is there another site that caters to these listings? Or just resales in general?
