Discussion about 56 Leonard at 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca
NYC is crashing down. There is no money anymore, and these projects are getting cancelled or delayed indefinitely. http://curbed.com/archives/2008/12/22/is_56_leonard_slipping_into_a_deep_coma.php#reader_comments

This is proof positive we all need to live in Chicago. Thank you for showing us the light Rufus, would you mind if I referred to you from here on out as the Streeteasy Jesus?
"streeteasy Jesus"?????????? That's a goodin.
Posters like alanhart, sizzlack, and nyc10022, are completely silent, since one of the city's most anticipated buildings has been delayed indefinitely.
Silent? Does this building being delayed affect my life in any way shape or form? No.
Perhaps if I wanted an apartment there I'd be pissed but honestly I really couldn't care less.
Just one of the many, who needs it. Now, in a lesser city, with fewer developments...
In discussions on NYC vs. Chicago architecture, 56 Leonard was cited by many people on this board as "proof" that NYC has better buildings than Chicago.
There goes that argument. LOL!
Rufus, Chicago has Chicago. Who cares what kind of buildings it has?
Rufus, please explain your logic. 56 Leonard is delayed so therefore Chicago has better architecture? I have no idea how you connect the two. You might as well say 'A new KFC is opening in Chicago? Well then NYC has better food'. Does that make any sense? No. Do you make any sense. No.
I'm not sure how anyone could cite 56 Leonard as 'proof' of anything given that all we had were a few renderings. But then again you do love to use your imagination so...
NYC's modern development is seriously lacking in new projects. Even people on NYC forums agree with this point. Chicago's buildings, especially residential projects, are newer, nicer, and more innovative.
I was going to buy so I don't be priced out forever what does this mean to me since I put down $200,000?
Seriously lacking new projects? More proof you don't live here? You are aware of the current state of the economy and the ramifications that has on pretty much everything right?
Do we have a resurection here?
Once again the "new listing" "already in contract" ploy, at best 3 year old bubble contracts that will unlikely close at the over $2000 per sq ft rates.
Intereting looking building, but this is Leonard and Church.
Has construction resumed?
