Discussion about
Archstone chelsea Avalon Chrystie Sierra Westminster 88 Leonard Verdesian One union square south Archstone midtown west Lucerne Marlowe Avalon Bowery Chelsea Centro There's a whole lot more, of course. But these are the ones that come to my mind. Feel free to add to this list. All of these places are horribly overpriced, given less than ideal location and/or lousy buildings.

dufus, how is that mutually exclusive? They actually are some of the nicest rental buildings in manhattan, but they are still overpriced. And given how lousy apartments in the city are, that's not exactly a compliment either. In Chicago, all these buildings would be average at best.

In Chicago, all these buildings would be made with candy-canes and magic rainbows and built by leprechauns and keebler elves. Because everything in Chicago is amazing and everything in NYC sucks because Rufus knows all.

No dumbass. Just compare the architecture, location, and amenities of these buildings. Chicago blows them away.

Location? As in located in Chicago? I think that is really the game changer here. No matter what Chicago may have, no matter how amazing or special or fantastic, it's located in Chicago where none of us want to be. Case closed.

Rufus, you said they were overpriced because they weren't in great locations or they were lousy buildings. That's how it's mutually exclusive. In Chicago, al these buildings would be ... in Chicago.

Come on guys, Chicago has street fairs like no other place! The street fairs in Chicago make the quality of life for Chicagoans on par with those of royalty in other countries. You can't understand because you've never actually been to a Chicago street fair before.

Rufus - spin us a tale about the 10 greatest street fairs in Chicago's history....we all really care...

I'm not sure Rufus is aware that people choose where they live by picking the city first, and then the building. I have never heard of anyone who was so desperate to live in a "high rise luxury building" that they chose the building first and the city second. If that were the case the population of Dubai would probably be exploding.

Sizzlack, why are NYC residents always bitching about how low the quality of rental apartments are in the city?

No Rufus, I live here I don't need to read websites (that can be spammed by yourself) to get an idea of what life is like in NYC. Thank you for admitting where you get your info on the city from though.

rufus, you get eviscerated on Curbed. i haven't spent much time on wirednewyork recently, but I doubt they'd welcome you much on the New York real estate and architecture forums, although they'd be much more polite about it.

most of us have a love/hate relationship with NYC, with love winning out most of the time. few us us have anything more than tolerance for Chicago. we just don't care about it much. if it makes you happy, great, but you're kind of like a middle-aged spinster who has suddenly found God and wants to spread the word.

Feel free to change the subject all you want Rufus, but what I said before will apply to everything you will ever say in the future:

"No matter what Chicago may have, no matter how amazing or special or fantastic, it's located in Chicago where none of us want to be."

Nice to see that Rufus was unable to respond to the posts in here so he ran off and started yet another new thread. How telling.

Also, for anyone not paying attention he admitted getting all of his info on NYC off of here, Curbed and Wired.
