Discussion about
Any opinions on which are the Best blocks in West Village to live on, invest in? Where do you think that WV begins. Some sites claim that it begins west of 6th Avenue. On Streeteasy maps it seems that it begins west of 7th.
Central Village generally considered area from Broadway to Sixth. WV Seventh Ave on west. Block between 6 :& 7 Aves is up for grabs and you can call it what you want. Personally I think of that as fringe of WV because it lacks the characteristics on most cross streets of the Central Village. Semantics. LIke "Gold Coast" or "Lower Fifth."
Best streets? Lots of them. Certainly west of 7th I'd include Barrow, Bedford, Commerce. Bank St. is high on many lists although personally I'm not as enomored of it. Charles, W10th among others. You can walk around and pretty much see for yourself. They are thought to be the "best" not for secret reasons but rather because of their evident appeal in terms of light, charm, character.
St. Luke's Place across from the park. Sunshine all day and beautiful brownstones. Corner of West 12th and West 4th is next in my book with cobblestone, tree-lined streets. Worst would be anywhere on Christopher west of 7th and anywhere near the Meatpacking District.
St. Luke's Place across from what park? I don't think I've ever heard of that street and I live in GV. Probably walk it all the time and don't know its name. Malthus?....
11th between, Perry between West 4th and Bleecker Brunch at Cafe Cluny,Priceless.
st. luke's place is a stretch of leroy no?
the nice blocks of the west village are the most pleasant and attractive residential area of manhattan.
charles, perry, west 11th, bank, and 12th from waverly to bleecker are all really beautiful. the stretch of west 4th from 10th to 12th and waverly from perry to 12th. bedford street from christopher to 7th avenue. barrow, commerce, grove.
I think its Jimmy Walker park. There is a baseball field on Hudson and a sitting area and playground behind it. And then some handball courts and a swimming pool as you get toward Seventh.
I love Bedford Street but there are so many lovely, charming streets in the village. Happyrenter...I agree with your streets also.
Aside from the obvious locales already mentioned, I always thought Gay Street had a unique charm. Is that considered WV?
i love gay street
where is gay street
its right off waverly just past 6th near the joe's coffee. it's cute and small. it's not west of 7th though so i am not sure if it can be called true WV
