Hey Columbia,

Many of my clients/peeps stay in the London in Midtown West -- it's said to be a classic boutique, with small rooms and good service. www.thelondonnyc.com

I don't know about parking, but it's on W. 54th between 6th and 7th, and it's tough to imagine that there isn't at least parking near me on West 56th, in the garage under the Sheffield on 8th Ave. Don't know if the three blocks would be a dealbreaker for you or not.

thanks...can still manage 3 blocks or can always take a cab.

p.s. been looking at hotels.com it's funny--are there any hotels in manhattan that don't have small rooms? not a suite but a little floor space?

There is a garage on the block that the London is on if not in the hotel itself.

I stayed at the Morgans Hotel at Madison and 36th a couple of weeks ago. Very cool, trendy, and great buffet breakfast. And thanks to the recession they were REALLY happy to see me. Quite friendly. Not sure about parking, but it's definitely in your price range, possibly cheaper. Besides, parking is everywhere, right? http://www.morganshotel.com

dont get hung up on the parking thing, there are parking garages everywhere. what neighborhood do you want to stay in? I stayed in a lot of different hotels around the city when I was renovating once. i would switch hotels every couple of days, i get bored staying in the same place too long

ColumbiaCounty - There is an outdoor parking lot directly next door to the London, and a below-ground lot directly across the street. The London is a really great building, was totally renovated last year, so all shiny and new for you. Also, you could check out Dream Hotel http://www.dreamny.com at 55th & Broadway. Ava Lounge on roof has stunning views of Times Square

cc - if you're looking in the UWS you may want to try On The Ave (ontheave-nyc.com). It's reasonably priced, positively reviewed, and there's (unreasonably priced) parking in the vicinity. The highly popular Fatty Crab is around the corner, and the even more popular Shake Shack is a couple of blocks away. The hotel is within walking distance of the AMNH, Central Park, and Lincoln Center. And if that's not enough, a bunch of SE regulars live within spitting distance.

The Mandarin-Oriental is good and there's parking in the building. But not in your budget.
