Discussion about
As Street Easy "president," I hereby endorse Carl Paladino for governor of New York. Carl will do a lot of great things for New York. For instance, through his proposed Dignitiy Corps, unemployed and poor peopel will be sent to live in unused state prisons to learn hygene. No longer will you have to sit next to a smelly person on the subway who last took a bath during the Eisenhower administration. Carl will take over the Ground Zero mosque site through eminent domain. And nobody will mess with good old Governor Carl since he has a handgun permit and carries heat everywhere he goes. And finally, Carl will keep us etnertained throughout his term as governor through his colorful e-mails.

reminds me of the silliness they call stimulus

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/75198

CNSNews.com) – The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), spent $823,200 of economic stimulus funds in 2009 on a study by a UCLA research team to teach uncircumcised African men how to wash their genitals after having sex.

The genitalia-washing program is part of a larger $12-million UCLA study examining how to better encourage Africans to undergo voluntary HIV testing and counseling – however, only the penis-washing study received money from the 2009 economic stimulus law. The washing portion of the study is set to end in 2011.

Its the social issues that kill any hope the tea party would ever have with me. A sea of white faces saying Obama is a racist and fearful of basically all things black, mexican, muslim, gay, or related to several academic disciplines including but not limited to history, geology, physics, astronomy, biology, and a few other things keep me from re-loadin' with Sarah Palin.

Sorry, I will take my marginal tax rate going back up to Clinton-era rates in exchange.

I find it generally funny how so many "libertarians" are so gung-ho to trample on so many hard-fought civil liberties. All of which are worth more to me than a little extra pocket change. (And I am one who would in fact get hit by Obama's tax plan.)

No riversider, I can hear and see and read Newt, Dnesh, Briebart, the various tea party organization heads, and yes paladino directly. No need for a filter. Mexicans, Muslims, the new black panther party, Shirley sherrod, gays, Obama the Kenyan colonial hating communist Muslim who is a racist, mine sotamayer. Etc. Saying that liberals caused 911, as dnesh and coulter do. Etc. There words indict them. The fact that Dick Army is using affirmative action to try and get more non-white and Jewish leaders and participants speaks volumes of irony.

There was a tea party table set up all summer across the street from a hamptons train station which had Obama posters with Hitler mustaches and others with monkey references. NO, that's totally NOT racist. (sarcasm too subtle?)

Blacks vote for what's good for blacks. Democrats give them affirmative action (which is pro-black racism), and welfare benefits (two-thirds of black babies are born to single mothers). The Tea Party will never be as pro-black as Democrats so you will rarely see a black person in the Tea Party. If whites acted the way blacks did, liberals would scream RACIST!!! but blacks are allowed to act like that because they are considered a victimized minority.

The Tea Party is more pro-worker than Democrats, because the Tea Party is most likely to support immigration reduction. Immigrants (both legal and illegal) increase the labor force which drives down wages and creates unemployment. Basic supply and demand.

Mets, there was no actual 'event'. My family's summer home is in Shinnicock, and the closest town center is in Hampton Bays. We do all of our grocery shopping there, and tea party members had an info table set up any day the weather permitted.

Former U.S. Senator Al D'Amato (R-NY) on Fox news:

"GOP strategist Jack Burkman said that the United States Postal Service employs unskilled Nigerians, and at one point said that "most of these guys working in the post office should be driving cabs." Former U.S. Senator Al D'Amato (R-NY) rebuked Burkman by stating, "You are a nasty racist. ... That's a bunch of bullshit. And you should be ashamed of yourself and have your mouth washed out. What the hell are you talking about?"

After Burkman tried to interrupt D'Amato to defend his remarks, the former senator said, "Shut up, I've listened to your racist bullshit." "

See the video of the exchange here. Hmmmm. WHat I say about the tea partiers is just my imagination? Hmmmm.

Alphonse D'Amato on Carl Paladino:

'Paladino's radical, divisive, and disturbing record isn't setting well with one of New York's most famous Republicans -- former Sen. Alfonse D'Amato. "He is dangerous, at the least, he is mean spirited and he tries to divide people," D'Amato told WCBS 880′s Peter Haskell. Along with former New York City Mayor Ed Koch and former State Comptroller Carl McCall, D'Amato also signed his name to an open letter declaring Paladino unfit for office:

The victory of Carl Paladino in the Republican Primary was a disappointing day for all New Yorkers. This state has a long history of electing highly qualified, forward-looking statewide candidates -- both Democrats and Republicans. Yesterday, however, anger overcame reason and enabled a fringe element to choose the Republican nominee. The end result was the selection of Mr. Paladino"

Scroll through those and tell me these are not bigots. What is hilarious is Dick Army used AFFIRMATIVE ACTION to have more black, hispanic, and jewish speakers, and has flat-out said they need to diversify the Tea Party. I thought the tea party hated affirmative action?

You clearly did not even click on the link to the mediamatters site. It has photographs. Of actual tea party people. Holding actual racist signs. Photos taken by widely used wire services like the AP.

Paladino does not dispute the content of ANY of the widely disseminated emails he sent.

Here is the exact same information from Rupert-muroch owned WSJ:

"[Former GOP governor] Pataki on Paladino

'I don't think he is fit for public service. He made transferred emails back and forth that were racist, homophobic, misogynist."

Riversider, are you claiming CP is NOT a social conservative? That O'Donnel, DeMint, and so one are NOT global warming denying creationists who are against gay rights and for school prayers? Another VIDEO for you to see the candidte say it for her self:

"O'DONNELL: A lie, whether it be a lie or an exaggeration, is disrespect to whoever you're exaggerating or lying to, because it's not respecting reality.

MAHER: Quite the opposite, it can be respect.

IZZARD: What if someone comes to you in the middle of the Second World War and says, 'do you have any Jewish people in your house?' and you do have them. That would be a lie. That would be disrespectful to Hitler.

O'DONNELL: I believe if I were in that situation, God would provide a way to do the right thing righteously. I believe that!"

MAHER: God is not there. Hitler's there and you're there.

O'DONNELL: You never have to practice deception. God always provides a way out.

At the end of the show, O’Donnell also proclaimed that “we took the Bible and prayer out of public schools, now we’re having weekly shootings practically.” Watch here:

the president was joking I assume.

The fact that Pataki and Damato both call him a racist is a bit more problematic. The most recent GOP NYS governor AND Senator say this guy is a whack job who is racist, sexist, homophobic, and unfit for office. This sort of helps my argument just a smidge more than Google.

Wow! Cuomo is clearly over-reacting based on this press-release...
----------------------------------------------

"So Andrew, for the first time in your life be a man," Paladino wrote. "Don't hide behind Daddy's coattails even though he pulled strings to advance your career every step of your way. Come out and debate like a man.

"Because no one inherits the New York governorship - you have to earn it."

------------

"If a guy says you have no cojones, how do you punch him back, call him an a--hole?" the Democratic gubernatorial candidate fumed in a secret talk to his team, one insider said.

"We have all this stuff [on Paladino] and we're on the defensive," Cuomo groused, the insider added.

I don't think Cuomo is over-reacting one bit. Palidino has and will say far more outrageous and vile thigns about his opponents than any democrat save maybe Kucinich or that dude from Florida ever would. In a way, he is like McCain was in the AZ primary - running against someone willing to toss grenades when all he can do is spray water in Carl's eyes like he is a bad kitty.

Apparently Crown Prince Andy is in trouble.

A new poll has Republican Carl Paladino within striking distance of Democrat Andrew Cuomo as voters say they want to elect someone who will stop the circus in Albany.

Wednesday was supposed to be Cuomo’s day as he picked up the endorsement of New York City’s notoriously independent mayor, Michael Bloomberg, in the race for governor.

But a new poll changed that because it turned Cuomo’s once comfortable front-runner status on its head.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer said he will back Democrat Andrew Cuomo come November, but it sure didn’t sound like much of an endorsement.

“Everybody knows that behind the scenes that he’s the dirtiest, nastiest political player out there,” Spitzer said of Cuomo Thursday.

Who cares what Spitzer has to say. He road his daddy's bankroll through Princeton, Harvard Law and finally Albany. Funny he never got the "thou shalt not pay for expensive hookers" lecture. Oh well. Wasn't his best buddy in college Jim "the money you have with Bear Stearns" is safe.
I'm looking for a reason to not vote for Cuomo. Why couldn't the republicans have put up a candidate like Governor Christie? I can't believe I'm envious of New Jersey.

Not at ALL a double standard. Not at all.

"New York Republican gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino alleged Tuesday that Democrat Andrew Cuomo was unfaithful to his ex-wife years ago, a stunning accusation that validated his earlier prediction that the race would be getting nastier.

Paladino offered no proof of his claim, despite requests for substantiation, and he made it minutes after angrily declaring his 10-year-old daughter—a child from his own affair 10 years ago—off limits to the press. The tea party-backed Republican had publicly revealed her existence when he declared his candidacy earlier this year."

Now lets remember, the NY Post is the PRO-Tea Party paper! And Paladino STILL treats them like shit. Wow, this guy is something else. Watch the video.

"There is no such thing as life time health coverage you dimwit. Public employees only have coverage until theya re Meidcare eligible. "

man, stop with the names already.

The dimwit is the person who things that because its got another program name, we aren't paying for it.

If I call them something else, am I not paying taxes anymore?

Yeah, I really think we need some more of those awesome Democratic politicians in office in New York.

Lets elect Hevesi!
Sheldon Silver!
David Patterson!
Hiram Monserat!
Pedro Espada!
Spitzer!
Lets get Charlie Rangel in there!

Cuomo isn't a whole lot better, and he's supposed to clean this up?

Oh, it gets better. This man is unfit for any office, period. (Which by the way is what pretty much every GOP pol in the State has already said.)

"Paladino Attacks Gays in Brooklyn Speech...

...The Republican candidate for governor, Carl P. Paladino, told a gathering in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Sunday that children should not be “brainwashed” into thinking that homosexuality was acceptable, and criticized his opponent, Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, for marching in a gay pride parade earlier this year....

...“I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option — it isn’t....

...A recent New York Times/CNN poll found that 58 percent of people in New York were in favor of gay marriage...."

Most people wouldn't know a nntp server if it hit them on the head but it is the how and what this ass did that i have issues with.

I like this guy if we can have less government in our lives. If we have more freedom then homosexuals don't need to worry, they can be on their own doing their thing with less government being involved but that also means they have to be on their own like every other person. Not telling the rest of us what they want or don't want. Just do you thing. I'll do my thing. And less government for both of us is a good thing.

The government telling gays they cannot be school teachers, (a battle won 30 years ago), serve in the military, adopt kids, or and yes, get married (58% of New Yorkers support the latter) is not LESS government, its more government.

Well if you say that the school teacher issue was solved 30 years ago, aren't we supposed to be dealing with real problems of today? If 58% of New Yorkers support marriage and 100% of New Yorkers want more jobs.

"Well if you say that the school teacher issue was solved 30 years ago, aren't we supposed to be dealing with real problems of today?"

And yet Paladino (and Jim DeMint and other Tea Partiers) don't want gay teachers in schools. Merely saying some citizens do not deserve equal rights - literally Carl's words, make him unfit for office, and unfit for any libertarian to support.

Did he say that he wants to end gay teachers?

But it doesn't matter. We need jobs and our economy. When people are back making money and with supporting their families, then the rest will improve and no body will care about all of the minor issues so that is when the rest of the agenda can get through.

DeMint, absolutely. Paladino? Its hard to read "I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option — it isn’t,”" can be read much differently. In terms of ANY thing having to do with gays.

carl paladino has been a huuuge beneficiary of government largesse and faaatttty pork extraordinaire

he'd be a complete non-event were it not for the money he's made based purely on GOVERNMENT programs

"Let me check what Bush promised 10 years ago..."

Bad example. Bush was nice to Dems from time to time, and got a few of them to vote his way on major bills - Carl has already destroyed any chance he has of working with the dem majority in Albany, and says he absolutely will not cooperate with them, or even with a large number of the moderate GOPers. How will he get ANYTHING done?

so paladino promises to clean up albany and rid it of "special interests". yet on the campaign trail he speaks to an interest group and gives a speech they wrote for him! hey carl that's the way to be your own man!

Albany is disfunctional. Getting things done may not be pro-growth.
Even Rockefeller drug laws, how long did the get it done Albany take to get rid of those laws?

Paladino won't go away. Even if he loses, he'll still be there bashing and battling Cuomo and Silver and others. Then with Spitzer back to criticize the governor out of spite, New York will be an interesting government for years to come.

...probably because he rented space to two gay clubs, his son ran a gay club, and said gay club had floats in those "disgusting" gay pride parades. A bit of a hypocrite.

Carl is colorful. I don't care. Governor Cuomo is a guarantee of business as usual; NY continues to have high taxes and only investment bankers can afford to live her.

Paladino MIGHT be able to change something. He has my support. Cutting taxes by 10% and wasteful government spending by 20% is a lot more important than whether he shoots off his mouth.

has paladino offered any concrete suggestions to accomplish what you are supporting? certainly you would agree that his declining to take his kids to gay pride parades will not change taxes or expenditures?

No, but certainly YOU would agree that telling other people how to parent their children will do whatever it is that people hope Paladino would have been achieving, had he ever had the slightest chance of being elected.

I hope we can get more jobs. That is more than 1 in 10 New Yorkers especially when you count for the whole improved economy.

Columbiacounty, you seem kind of angry about this Paladino guy. Is he more angry than you? Is that even possible?
