Today, we’re pleased to introduce Alexander Atkins, a social media professional who was born in New Zealand and raised in Asia and Europe. He now lives in Gramercy, photographing the city on his iPhone.

ACCOUNT BEGINNINGS:

For me, Instagram serves as an online resume, so I’m constantly motivated to keep it updated and engaged. At first, I shared collages I put together or things I had posted on my blog. Eventually, I decided to only post my own photos. I really started to get into iPhone photography, and editing tools too. I think creatively we’re always evolving, especially on social media. 

FAVORITE SPOTS TO PHOTOGRAPH IN NYC:

I love walking around the West Village and through Gramercy to see if there’s anything good to snap. Sometimes you’ll get some truly magical New York moments and beautiful filtered light.

ALEXANDER LOVES NYC BECAUSE:

It’s the energy. I know everyone says that, but it’s true. You feel it when you land — even at Newark.

DREAM CITY OUTSIDE OF NEW YORK:

Amsterdam. It’s one of my favorite places to visit, and it always feels like a home away from home.
