I know the tipping threads have been beaten to death ("I can't believe you're so cheap!!!"; "I can't believe you give that much!"). But I have a question regarding my parking garage attendants. I don't park in my building (where they want over $800); I park in a building 2 blocks down the street for $400. I only use my car once or twice a month. (Yes I know I should simply sell it and save all that money on parking and insurance; spare me). I tip them $5 when they get or park the car (no dings please!).
Since I use the car so sparingly, I don't know the parking guys names. There's probably 4 guys working there in total. I'm tempted to leave one lump sum with the manager - say $300.
How much do people think is reasonable for my situation? And am i being naive in thinking the manager will share?
