Discussion about INSTRATA Gramercy at 290 Third Avenue in Gramercy Park

After living in the Elektra for a couple of years, and dealing with the many problems there (with little response from management), it only seems appropriate to post here. The building is beautiful. The finishes are great. The floors are wonderful. And the views from the upper floors and the roof are magnificent. That said, I have never lived in a place with so many mechanical problems and such bad service from management. The elevators are constantly breaking (most recently for over a week). The gym is in terrible condidtion (not a single TV works, it is often dirty, and one weight machine has been broken for at least 6 months - not an exaggeration). Tenants have constant problems with air conditioning units (sure, they have cool timers and remote controls, but they constantly break and don't pump enough cool air on hot days). Not to mention the washer/dryers that also often break... And the response from management? Ignoring complaints, taking a long time to fix things, etc etc. This is an expensive, beautiful building. But the beauty is superficial. Constant mechanical failures and poor service will be a part of your experience here. [less]
