nyc kitchen cabinet renovation

Hi all, I am gut renovating a 1 bedroom on lower fifth (about 1,000 sq ft). I am doing it pretty high end with all new everything/appliances. My designer is recomending IKEA cabinets for the kitchen and from what I've seen, they look pretty good. Any thoughts on this? Does this hurt resale or the general look? Any ideas for a good alternative? I never got a quote from a high end company but assume there is a huge difference. Thanks
