How important are the offer letters?

Hello, Do sellers and their brokers really look at the entire offer letter, and all its language? Or do they really just look at the number? I am really wondering whether or not it's very helpful to put in things like: how eager you are to make X property your new home, how you are well-respected, responsible, etc. in your profession, how eager you are to make the closing go quickly and smoothly, etc., etc. I have seen websites mentioning these types of things in their "how to write an offer letter" sections. But I know here in NYC things are different than in the rest of the country, so maybe the seller just looks at the offer, and says "no" or "okay, we can make a counter" on the basis of the money.
