120 Garfield Place has an active bedbug problem, and the owner didn't disclose it to us until the very last minute of the rental application process, after we had paid $170 in certified check fees and credit check fees and had even signed the lease! I feel we dodged a bullet by looking into the problem further rather than just signing the government-mandated disclosure. There are literally hundreds of complaints about this landlord/owner and his two buildings at 118 and 120 Garfield Place, Brooklyn. Water/mold problems, bedbug infestation complaints, etc. He refuses to properly treat his building for bedbugs, and he's letting someone (possibly a hoarder) with bedbugs continue to live there! He literally told us to wrap our furniture in plastic before we moved in when he was trying to convince us to sign the disclosure. People like him are the ones giving the New York City housing market a bad name. [less]
