The rental application process for 55 Houston was completely shady, and I ultimately backed out of renting it. The landlord agent is likely churning through applications and making profit from collecting app fees - $60 cash when I applied over two weeks ago. Most other rentals in New York take the apartment off the market with a one month good faith deposit and render a decision within 2 -3 business days. The broker and landlord for this listing refused to follow this standard process. There is a reason this is listed below market value in Nolita....
