Discussion about
I live in one of the new upscale developments that while is not in dire straights, but certainly not 100% sold. I missed the first condo meeting and this is what was in the minutes!!! Noise from other units- i'm glad there are people in the units! The luggage carts- guess people leave them unattended. Personal things in the hall. And one other ridiculous thing i can't remember. Am i nuts to think this is what's the most important things on peoples minds. Not, how many sold, the status of making apts rental, the school going up. Potential services being cut. Is it me???

Are you a laughing on the outside, crying on the inside sort of clown? (movie reference, btw)

No platitudes here, but at least your development is extant. Some of those people who have committed to spending $5M for the joy of living on 86th Street, or spent $2000 psf to live on PAS in smallish apartments are in an even worse position. Not that that should make you feel good, but being human it sometimes helps to think that you could have done even worse.

All the best of luck. These times shall too pass, and with a bit of time and some decent luck at the end of the day I hope you have a home that you can enjoy.

It's no secret that many concerns are petty, but in some ways that's a defensive mechanism to feel as if one is reasserting control. It may be irrational, but sadly those complainers will remain happier right up until the day of disaster (which hopefully won't happen).

Crap in the hallways is a hassle, unattended carts...also a hassle, noise? who wants to live with noise?
This is the Big Apple, where you been? Start your bitching, it so much cheaper than therapy.

Where did you end up living RE? How pleased are you with all (except the pettiness of your neighbor's complaints)?

dont answer that RE2009. while jim123 is asking what is normally a pretty innocent question... once you name your apt it will be in the annals of streeteasy forever. there is no upside...

the reference in the original post to "the school going up" is a hint as to neighborhood. where is there a new public school under construction?

^^^

see above? the trolls of streeteasy begin to do their research. once you name your place - then someone will say it's overpriced... some moron will talk about their punchlist and hotwater not being hot.. then someone will talk about rats and homeless.. and then youre screwed.

no upside.

NO, you should not name your building ..... and you certainly know better than to miss the NEXT meeting, now, don't you?

"Noise from other units- i'm glad there are people in the units! The luggage carts- guess people leave them unattended. Personal things in the hall."

falco has it right - every single building in manhattan has these same issues..

"It's no secret that many concerns are petty, but in some ways that's a defensive mechanism to feel as if one is reasserting control. It may be irrational, but sadly those complainers will remain happier right up until the day of disaster (which hopefully won't happen)."

gmafb..trying to somehow twist standard Manhattan-living complaints into some sort of subconscious "defensive mechanism" just to support your continuing doom-and-gloom scenarios is laughable...

easy to figure out the building, view of the water, school going up and it's finished.
what is the harm in naming it?

jsmith, i'm talking about relativism within concern levels. Some things are annoying and some things are truly horrendous. I think we'll start to see the latter some time late this year.

wow, I try to be honestly supportive, and this shit happens. this was not intended to support my doom-and-gloom scenarios. If you follow my "continuing" comments you'll find that I do little in the way of speaking in favor of sales at this point, but I am not one of the people who insists "you are an idiot if you have bought" either. I think that there has rarely been a worse time to buy, but for those who have bought with the intention to own long term I have only the best wishes.

The little things in life are the little things in life. Some noise? Well, many people want none. The luggage carts? I'm so sorry, but if that bothers you at almost any price range, get a f'n life.

Hmmm... Interesting that it was, in fact, RE2009 who asked me in another post where I was looking -- and I told him. Not surprisingly there were a few snarky comments from trolls but I actually received some useful input.
