I said on the other thread that I wasn't impressed... I also did not feel safe after getting off on some of the stops. There just isn't enough retail and people around and you're in a urban setting, without the people, retail and glamour factor of manhattan. And the prices are still pretty high.

never been to park slope... but the farther I strayed from Brooklyn Heights the more uncomfortable I felt at the subway stops, so I just extrapolated "No". I dunno how much "MORE" space brooklyn gets you, but I may prefer the psychological "Manhattan" prestige.

brooklyn heights and park slope/carroll gardens are beautiful but they fringe on some bad areas.......but the PRIME areas are wonderful....i grew up in brooklyn and family still lives there....its pretty safe...

#4 here, all i know is, i got off at a stop that looked like it should be walkable (in manhattan) to an open house I saw listed in brooklyn. I got off and immediately turned around and got back on the subway and tried a different route.

#6, that is a perfectly fine are but I can definitely understand about Manhattanites apprehensions. I NEVER go anywhere in Brooklyn besides the prime areas (Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights). I'd rather be safe than sorry... I'm not trying to offend anyone that lives there but if I don't feel comfortable, I am not going to go there.
