It is easy - terribly easy - to shake a man's faith in himself. To take advantage of that, to break a man's spirit is devil's work.

Clever, Steve. But which way to these quotes cut? Maybe I have faith in myself that I'm right and the market will come down to where I want it.

Steve - I don't know what business your in but I assume that it's not in the world of selling an actual product. The real economy is in shambles and recovery will be long and drawn out. I'm an optimist by nature and expect the future to be better than the past, but really, the approach that you suggest where fundamentals are ignored and we trade it all up again will in my opinion lead to a series of W’s and a lot of misery. The bubble in real-estate prices that occurred over the past few years has to cut off. Remember that core inflation over same period was non existent. You could make a case that the entire economic structure has been in decline over last 10+ years.

steveF started this thread just to goad me into this entry, whatever it means, so here it is:

"delaware, perception is and actual data is showing that recovery is underway. Sellers are gaing confidence that they will be getting higher prices in the near future so why sell at a lower price. In April we JUST started seeing buyers emerge. Now there are many buyers signing. Sellers can read they aren't idiots they are just driven by the old greed and fear. --steveF

I'm going to steal from someone else. from www.ritholtz.com, today. not a pithy phrase, but about as inspirational as it gets.

This is from “News from 1930” website

“There’s a large amount of money on sidelines waiting for investment opportunities; this should be felt in market when “cheerful sentiment is more firmly intrenched.” Economists point out that banks and insurance companies “never before had so much money lying idle.”

-August 28:, 1930

Greed, in all of its forms: greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.
