you must be joking rs. the "productive" have had a slight setback. but they'll be going full steam ahead as soon as possible in emerging countries. assuming it is possible, which is a risk they elected to take.

rand would be happy. the selfish have totally sold out an entire country, that had a tremendous amount of issues, but also a tremendous amount of potential.

go selfishness. to india, and china, and brazil. and you, the successful business collective, will live with security guards behind gates because the population eventually will get off its collective asses and want to spear you with a very sharp pitchfork.

The 40 year old Columbia grad with a failing personal training business, her mom paying her bills and a newborn baby at home...I didn't notice a baby in the parlor. I wonder if mom is taking care of it or if she hired a nanny? You know the recession's still on when Manhattan beauty parlors are filled with screaming, unattended children, after the nannies are let go. I also wonder what percent of the economy has been parents spending on their children given that 2007 was an all time high for births in the US. And how much real estate business was people with growing families.

80sman, interesting question. i'll freely confess here that our daughter will have no difficulties in the money department although the money will be very tightly controlled (interesting, many people seem to have more issues with the control than the fact that she'll get money, you just can't win with negative people).

so she'll be one of the ones who likely inherits or receives a property. but, having provided those caveats because i'll get slammed for them, births were down i read 10% from 2006 to 2008. i'm sorry, i can't find the source, but i very clearly recall the figure. hugely important. but how it will play out will be quite interesting.

Actually I'd put myself up against you any day. And I'm quite aware of where you got your free undergraduate education that you seem to have no use for or inclination to repay.

let's talk about household income, shall we?
Sure, you go first.

"only 65% or so of the workforce is employed. your knowledge of employment issues is so simplistic."
I know I'm well employed. I know you don't even try to work.

"again, what do you do? what do you add? why can't you share some simple details of your life? are you ashamed?"
The problem is that you have no shame. One week ago we had no idea you had so many encounters with toilets and plungers, and this week we know WAY too much.

Aboutready "In 2007, the number of births in the United States broke a 50-year-old record high, set during the baby boom. [And subsequently declined in 2008]"
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/07/us/07births.html

I was thinking about what happens to the parents who started a family once the money started rolling in (including rising real estate values) and now are looking at a serious cash crunch. The 19-year old in the Frontline episode looked especially pissed to be going to a city college and not having money for the stuff she wanted.

Maybe I'm jaded having spent so much time with Wall Street types who openly admit to having lots of children as a sign of how much money they're making. If the child's birth is tied to family finances then that kid is in for one hell of a ride...

80sman, i know those figures. so just try to get your head around a 10% decrease between 2006 and 2009.

and i agree with you. what a sad life we lead when people need to procreate just to show that they are able to support them. although i don't think this is necessarily anything new among the upper class in NYC. what i do think is something new is the condition the middle to upper middle class is in. but there hasn't been enough press or statistics yet about this. we'll see.

Green Acres is the place to be
Farm livin' is the life for me
Land spreadin' out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan just give
me that countryside

New York is where I'd rather stay
I get allergic smelling hay
I just adore a penthouse view
Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue

The chores, the stores
Fresh air, Times Square

You are my wife
Goodbye city life
Green Acres we are here

The Rich are highly mobile. Raise taxes enough and they will avoid them. The poor by definition do not pay taxes. So we're talking the middle class. Seems obious the answer is to lower taxes, but that's how the legislature gains favor, by handing out other people's money to gain political favor, so I am not hopeful.

It's a shame that you have to be dirt poor in order to qualify for medicaid and other assistance. Maybe if it was easier to get public assistance for housing, foor, or healthcare, more people wouldn't end up becoming poor and/or staying poor in nyc.

or did you mean that my posts from the http://streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/16554-hfscomm1-is-a-liar thread are all gone, like:
-Rhino, do you think you are better than everyone because you know how to do an NPV calculation and can punch people who can't?
Or is it the opposite, you need to mask the fact that you got beat on streeteasy by a "gay translating accountant" and had what seemed to be described by others at the time as a complete shameful meltdown.
Big old meathead Rhino melting down. What would coach say?

or
-aboutready, I suck and I'm well-linked to you in steeteasy readers' minds. People read your posts and they also think hfscomm1 and they think toilet seat (and toilet plunger) and they think the unemployed lady who wants money for nothing and they think the woman who sacrifices her daughter's privacy.
and they think about 230 pounds of piss and vinegar.

or
-Why is it wrong for me to chase aboutready regarding her toilet seat woes, which are representative of her generally repugnant attitude towards property owners and landlords in the city and her own entitlements and failure to contribute to our society? But, it's ok for her pal columbiacounty to chase around other posters reflexively calling them liars or asking repeatedly if they have a flat screen TV coming out of their ass? http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/12009-lic-total-joke. Aboutready gently describes columbiacounty as someone who "cc gets a bit angry" http://streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/16649-one-in-four-borrowers-is-underwater-the-role-of-realtors

or
-As for your "sarcasm." Nice try. No evidence whatsoever of sarcasm. None.
In fact, just the opposite. This supposed sarcasm might have some credibility if you weren't demanding treble punitive money damages from your landlord for DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG TO YOU. Explain why after your sarcastic point you then continued on to make statements that effectively supported the position?
Plus, explain to us one more time why you don't work, honestly that was the most lawyered up convoluted answer - I have to give you credit: "i fit in as a person in a household which makes a certain amount of money that makes it very cost ineffective for me to work in a traditional sense."

don't feed the troll
don't reinforce negativity
don't engage the darkness
pray that his soul will open to the light

Hi mimi,

yes, ommmm. I see why people pray for their adversaries; it's because one's adversaries are often stuck in darkness & negativity, which, imo, is what we have here: a tormented soul in pain who afflicts pain on others. I know it sounds new agey & BS, but I think it's true. Send light & prayers to the afflicted, but send me cash!!!!!
