Discussion about
Not bankers, hedgies, teachers, police officers, firefighters, old people, NYCHA denizens. Any more?
I'm not.
good point nyc10023... we almost all suck?
Pretty much.
But thats sort of the point. Everyone is looking out for themselves. The problem is when the government not only doesn't balance the greed, it becomes part of it.
didn't you just have a baby?
or did you steal one?
I guess parents are thieves as well. Hmm.
How do hedgies steal? While everyone is worried about how much they make (and they probably do make too much), hedge funds in aggregate have kicked the ass of mutual funds.
Steal in the capitalist sense - as in, no-one should be able to make that much $.
You mean the anti-capitalist sense? Listen, I've been paid on a 2%/20% hedge fund model, and frankly, I think its ridiculous. Strangely, however, even net of those crazy fees, they still kick the pants of equity mutual funds.
So wait, teachers, police and fire fighters make more than they should be able?
Yeah, that. If you figure in the pensions, some would argue that teachers, cops, FFs make more than one would think and should. Kick in the LIRR workers, MTA workers, yeah, we're all thieves. Except that we are stealing more than we are taking in.
I wouldn't say civil servants are making too much. That seems aggressive and kind of insensitive.
