Discussion about
Has anyone made the decision not to pursue an apartment based solely upon the broker's demeanor and/or failure to follow up? I have done so and I also havemade offers in spite of bad broker conduct. Shame that its somewhat difficult if not impossible to notify sellers as to the conduct of the brokers they represent. Actually I guess it is --- Look up seller/owner on ACRIS and notify them but that is an inordinate amount of energy to expend on something like that.
I've walked out of open houses, hung up on brokers and gotten into arguments with brokers during open houses. I nearly punched one out and called another one names I care not to discuss here. Overwhelmingly they are obnoxious, ignorant folks. Rarely, just rarely, you come across one who has a clue. Those are generally the more prosperous ones, but not always. They simply do not know their place, unless you educate them.
The fact that you would walk away from you dream home/apt. because you didn't like the broker is absolutely ABSURD!! hahaha..fools!
BS....Susan Singer! I backed out of a deal b/c this broker is so shady and unethical.
Some brokers are so shady that I purposely will not look at listings they represent. Anyone you know who has questionable ethics, you don't want to do business with in the future.
#2 - I nearly punched one out ...they are obnoxious ignorant folks...they simply do not know their place... You sound like a joy to deal with & it appears you've got a real problem. Ever hear of anger management?
My broker sucks.
Jamie Goldrub @ SHVO is super shady. He was listing a one bed with loft and listed it as having 20 foot ceilings. I walted in noticed that the ceilings were 12/13 feet maybe. I asked him and continued to tell me that even though he didnt have a tape measure that the ceiling was 20 feet even after i tired to reason with sayin gthat if they are 20 feet hight then i'm 10 feet tall. After 5 minutes and the desire to punch him in the face I walked out of the open house and on my way to the elevator pursuaded three couples (they didnt seem very bright) to not even go in. Screw Jamie Goldrub - perfect name for that shady wannabe!
Tony Oakley from Corcoran is a corrupt, lying weasel. He lies to prospective buyers by telling them that their are multiple bidders -- he usually says 6 -- and that he will conduct a best and final round to get the highest price. Do not trust him. He lies, lies, lies. The project at 380 Lenox which he represents is very poor quality construction and is located in a dangerous, drug gangland war zone at West 130th Street and Sixth Avenue (Lenox Avenue or Malcolm X Avenue).
Tons of them are weasels. I am looking for an apartment and when I call a broker at 9:3o or 10 AM I feel like I am waking them up! Do these people even work?
Yeah. Lots of brokers don't work hard. Most of them were unsucccessful in previous careers.
I have never, and I mean NEVER expressed an interest in an apartment without the broker telling me that there is already at least one offer on the unit. it is the ubiquitous broker lie. They are lying scumbags wihtout fail. Unfortunately we must deal with them in certain circumstances. Just know that they will tell you ANYTHING to sell you. And I mean ANYTHING.
#6. #2 here. Actually, my anger is managed quite well. Notice that I didn't actually punch the guy out. I had to restrain myself. Are you a broker?
brokers. hey just look at barbara corcoran. bitch made 80 MM from that company and she's a low grade idiot. par for the course in the world of brokers, the biggest idiot rules.
I will not mention the names but there are brokers on the UES which tend to get all of the listings within the co op building (as if they are getting kick backs from the board). They often live in the building and try to cherry pick their buyers and have other broker's buyers rejected. 207 East 74th is an example. Nice, inexpensive apartments at that building take 6 months to 18 months to close even in a fast moving market. I avoid all broker/co op situations like these.
#15, I'm curious to hear more about this. I looked at an apartment in 207 E. 74th. Are you saying they'll only sell if they don't have to co-broke? I always wondered how certain people seem to get all the listings in a certain building anyway.
Is it true that tons of people are leaving the broker business this year? And getting into other fad careers?
