Discussion about
Posted in wrong section earlier... With the NBA Free Agency starting soon, there's been a bunch of talk about who will be coming to NY to play for the Knicks. MSG hit the streets and asked fellow NYers what neighborhoods they thought would be perfect for Lebron or any of the other free agents. The responses ranged from DUMBO Brooklyn to Jersey! Well, the Upper West Side has Raef LaFrentz...

... but I'm not sure the neighborhood is exactly a magnet for NBA stars.

If James signs with the Knicks, Time Warner Center seems like a natural home for a player of his stature.

..or One Beacon Court (w/ Jay-Z) wouldn't be such a bad commute to The Garden.

Why does anyone give a rat's butt where an NBA player lives. They are pot smoking wife beaters with more illegitiate kids than the brady Bunch.

A few years back, I think Tuxedo Park attracted a Knick or two. Not all young multi-millionaires want to live in Manhattan.

Wow! @Socialist?! Sorry, you can't afford tickets to the games! Maybe you should put a little something aside for those Anger Mgmt. courses?! Sheesh.

Oh, and while I don't consider any human being to be "illegitimate," based on their mother's connection to a man; the Brady kids were from their parent's first marriages....Dummy!

I believe Tuxedo Park was in good proximity to the Knicks practice facility where they are more often than the garden. Suburbs versus Manhattan for NBA (or any other sport) stars is largely a function of single vs family. Those who are single and want to take advantage of all that New York has to offer in terms of nightlife, beautiful models, etc inevitably live in Manhattan. Married with children superstars gravitate to the 'burbs for the same reasons many others do: backyards for their kids to run around in, increased security (less of a factor now than it was 15-20 years ago), perhaps more family friendly activities. Frankly while I'm always hearing about movie/TV stars raising kids in the city, I can't think of anyone from the world of sports. But I'm sure someone will think of someone.

And TV network execs don't count.

I think socialist is jealous. Jealous that he's a poor nobody.

I live at 721 5th Avenue (Trump) and we have a few sports stars in out building.

I think Time Warner Center, One Beacon Court or 15 CPW will be perfect for LeBron.

Lizyank: One example would be Tiki Barber, with his wife and two sons, in the East 70s.... until a few years after he retired, when it all seems to have fallen apart. Maybe they would have been better off in Jersey.

I figure Upper East Side will get a lot with all the Yankees and former Yankees there.
