Discussion about
Let's have a nice little series of fights about neighborhoods. Rules of the game: price is no object, where would you rather live. First matchup: Noho vs. TriBeCa. I'll take Noho.

I'd take noho, but TriBeCa is hugely inconvenient for both work and school. 15 years ago, without those considerations, I would have said TriBeCa in a second. now, without those considerations, I would say noho.

but if price were no object at all I'd try to build in the east village.

NoHo....Although I'm alot more likely to sneak across 3rd ave to the East Village or 14th Street to Gramercy. I'm just not a cool neighborhood person.

NoHo. Which is where I live now. Walking distance to SoHo, East Village, Central Village, Nolita and LES, Union Square.

Noho...
where i hang out
Tribeca has no trees, looming gargantuan Federal buildings, snobs galore, overrated eateries, and its close to the pits, i.e. Financial district and Chinatown
Noho is young, a little crazy, lots of great restaurants and close to the Villages, movie theaters and if you really want to spend all that money, go to Bond street

300_mercer hit the nail on the head (unless money isn't an issue, then you buy on bond st. and pay for private school)

Noho.. TriBeca still feels a little isolated and sterile (though that can be a good thing at times)..

Noho, still has a bit of "grunge" to it though most is contrived, generally less tourists, and still off the path from W Vill/E Vill proper (meaning less congested which is a plus) but easily walkable to both locales if you're feeling glam (West) or low-key emo (East)
