I am in the process of buying a Brooklyn condo. Wondering if anybody used ING Direct for a jumbo mortgage? Any comments?

I wasn't aware that ING offered Jumbo loans. Better check on that. I'm pretty sure it's ARM's only.

They only offer arms 7/1 5/1 ARMs, but do offer jumbo. I am applying with them for my new development purchase. If anybody has any comments I would appreciate. So far the process has been ok. Their rates are very competitive.

I got a jumbo mortgage through ING in August 2007. They are the best. They do not have a different rate for jumbos. They do not make co-op mortgages, only condo or single family. Rates are very competitive and fully disclosed on their web site. Far superior than dealing with slimy mortgage brokers (used car salesmen). I closed 30 days after I applied. My attorney said ING's contract was the shortest and simplest he had ever seen and had the best terms for the borrower.

I am also using INGDIRECT for a jumbo loan. Indeed, their rates are very competitive, but their service is not that good. You really have to follow up on every issue to make sure that they do not screw up. In the end, I suppose that it is worth it, as it is cheaper than other banks.
