Anyone recommend a book or good website? Thanks
It's might not be exactly what you're looking for, but Ric Burns' PBS documentary series "New York" is incredible. Netflix has the DVDs.
Not quite what you're looking for, but I recommend The Encyclopedia of New York City by Professor Kenneth T. Jackson. Lots of info on NY blds.

I don't know this bk, but perhaps seems more like what yr looking for:
Skyscraper Dreams: The Great Real Estate Dynasties of New York by Tom Shachtman

Not quite what you're looking for, but I recommend The Power Broker by Robert Caro.
740 Park -- it's all you need to know
Lesson: Never apply for a JC Penney credit card.
Thanks!
Wow this system is strict, all I said was Thanks.. That needs review??!!
"Manhattan Projects" by Samuel Zipp looks like an interesting book. It's not about co-ops and condos, rather focusing on development for 2 decades after WWII and paid attention to the UN, Lincoln Center, StuyTown, and East Harlem.
In as much as a picture is worth a thousand words, I found "New York from the Air" which is a great photo book published before the millennium. Of course, being from then, shots of the World Trade Center are a bit odd to see today, almost looking photo shopped.
Off topic, but interesting book is "Mapping New York" by Black Dog Publishing
