I'm not sure if this is considered *high end* but I recently bought various pieces of furniture, from Room and Board. All of their furniture is American made, and of great workmanship. Their customer service was also excellent.

Just walk up and down the streets of Soho. They're a dime-a-dozen around there. There are also several just north of Madison Square Park. If you're willing to pay $15 or whatever for an online Zagat Shopping subscription, you won't be disappointed.

anonymous...Jenson and Lewis carry Cattelan Italia and i did get a table there. You can also order it thru Furniture Land south in Highpoint NC if you know what you want and save quite a bit. I really like that line also.

thanks rosina. The thing is eroomservice.com has all the furniture I want but I'm hesitant of just ordering it online without seeing it in person

In addition to what Primer05 listed, check out Ligne Roset, Roche Bobois and Cappelini. Appears they are in line with your style if you like Cattelan Italia.

If you're into something more earthy, you might want to consider De La Espada and Bassam Fellows.

And if you prefer a more traditional look, visit Baker Furniture. I believe they still have a location in Tribeca on Hudson.

And of course Cassina.

Enjoy furnishing.

Avoid Ambienti Italia. Very poor service. Surprised they manage to stay in business.
DDC has great service, but you'll pay up for it greatly.

Most of the products youll find in these stores can be purchased elsewhere for a lot less money. The one saving grace is your getting a free decorator when you go with them which is worth something.

DDC is remarkably expensive. and soo chichi.I liked the "pretend to be european but can't pronounce the names correctly, sorry I only speak english" kind of thing. the salespeople are model type.they dress the part, have perfect teeth, beautiful hair, are tall and have this great way of making you feel inadequate. great out of body experience.

Nicercatch,
Great take on DDC. Did it once, would not do it again.
I would actually say some harsher things about some of their sales staff, but I'll refrain.

Hudson Furniture in meatpacking district.
THe most beautiful slab wood furniture there is.
It's about as high end as you can get.
A dining room table can cost as much as a Miami short sale condo.

Roche Bobois at 36th and Madison...talk to Brennan, he helped us with a couch and he's great. Not a snotty prick like most high-end places and won't push things if you're working within a budget. It's expensive stuff, but a lot of the pieces fall into the "you get what you pay for" category, plus they warranty for 10 years.

You'd be surprised at how competitive prices are at auction for genuine "antiques" compared to new furniture.

There are a bunch of nice furniture stores on Green Street and on Wooster in Soho. I personally like Natuzzi and Desiron. There is a range of stores on those streets. Everything from Room and Board where you can get a $1500 sofa to places with a $20,000 sofa and everything in between.
