Discussion about
Any advice on approaching a coop board for a renovation that would involve moving the entry door about 3 feet over and sealing the original entry door? After exploring options for an upcoming renovation, the best one involves moving the entry hallway about 3 feet over and, of course, that means moving the entry door 3 feet over as well. Do coops generally allow this? If not, what is the major reason - the aesthetics of the common hallway or something more significant like safety code issues?

It's your basic standard Manhattan coop. The plan is to do a pretty big renovation. Moving the entry door a few feet over wouldn't place it too close to the neighboring apartment's entry door, so I don't see any real problem. But I guess it all depends on how strict the coop board is. I hope that some folks chime in with some experiences to share and perhaps some suggestions for approaching the board.
