Cory Freilich from Manhattan Mortgage is second to none. The guy is on top of things - came through for me and friends a number of times. His rates are very good, but most importantly - he delivers. In today's market, where banks and appraisers are going nuts - I would not have closed without him. He knows lenders, proactive with contingency plans, and works his ass off to make things happen...

"After working for three years as a mortgage broker in the New York market, Cory quickly became his company's Top Producer - and felt a strong motivation to strike out on his own. He moved to the DC area in 2002 and started his own mortgage bank specializing in wholesale lending. Within 5 years, Cory grew his business to one of the fastest growing companies in America ranked by "Inc." magazine.

Isn't Cory actually one of the type responsible for the real estate mess?

Mitchell Steinberg at Wells Fargo (steinbergmortgage dot com) has done right by us for our past three mortgages. Great rates and service in good times and bad. He has also financed for friends and they've been happy, too.

DO NOT use Mark Daley at BOA. He is NOT knowledgeable about Manhattan condos or co-ops. He is the worst. Using him now and I wish I went with someone else. Constant delays with paperwork and is misleading in terms of expectations.

I'm a very good mortgage broker. I have been a broker for over twenty years. I am an independent broker. I can close loans with Wells Fargo. Of course I have relations with other banks for niche products. I do FHA loans. Since I am an independent, I have very low overhead which translates into lower rates. I never charge a credit or application fee.

I always stay in touch with my clients should they have any questions about anything concerning mortgages or real estate in general. I am also a real estate broker. Thanks to Streeteasy, I have become competitive with the big brokerage houses.

I heard Angelo Mozilo was good... Wait he sold his company to Bank of America a few years ago. Well at least he knows when to sell.

Avoid Gary Stine at Chase. He gave a bad "good faith estimate" that basically railroaded me at closing.

I just closed with Adam Dahill of WCS Lending on a refi. I'm typically skeptical of mortgage brokers but he did a great job and earned my trust. He was honest in his approach, provided perfect GFEs, and was proactive in finding a great rate and providing advice. I highly recommend him. He is truly an expert in this area and incredibly professional.

Sorry but Steven Weiss @ 516-242-4900 is not AT ALL responsive. Except for the initial phone call I received from him where he said he will call me back within a specified timeframe, I have heard absolutely nothing from him. Moving on to someone else. Great that I found out before I wasted too much time with this "professional".
