We are having a baby and need window treatments for the baby's room. We face east and get a TON of morning light, so we need some blackout feature, but would also like the natural light to come through during the day with some sheer/semi-sheer component. We loved the Hunter Douglas Duette Duolite Honeycomb Shades, which are basically two shades in one. The top portion is sheer for daytime and the bottom portion is blackout for night. You can do any combination of them just by pulling the cord. BUT of course since it's two shades in one, they're double the price (around $1500 for a 73"x59" window). I think that's just ridiculous to spend on one window ... but that's my opinion. The purely blackout shades are $771 and while they serve the purpose overnight and into the sunny mornings, we will need to pull them up during the day and have pure sunlight (ie: hot in summer) to get any light in the room. Does anyone have any other suggestions for window coverings??? Any places in the city that they recommend? Has anyone used the wooden shades? Are they cheaper? Provide any "room darkening" affect? Thanks!!!! [less]
weighing in from back of mezzanine, you've got a huge window -- it's a very good product, will do what you want, extremely well made, will last a long time and still look new, spend the bucks and be done. you can blast thru $1500 in this city on average or crappy meals out over a few months.
