Discussion about
Hi, I have a stupid question: So the distance between my toilet and the tub is a little over 36". Does this mean the max size of the vanity is 36", or is it really the distance between the pipe and the shower (which is shorter than the pipe and the toilet) multiplied by 2? In other words, does the sink pipe need to line up exactly with the vanity hole? Or are the things I can buy to connect them? Thanks
Not sure I understand. But if you are asking whether the sink drain needs to be dead center, it does not. The trap can be turned from the downspout to meet the wall union.
ok, thanks
Also, code minimum (and also for comfort) the face of the vanity on the toilet side should be 16.5" from the center of the toilet.
BuiltINstudio, what do you mean by the "face of the vanity on the toilet side"? Does that mean the side of the vanity closest to the toilet (aka what your shoulder or arm would be hitting when sitting on the toilet)? I am planning on replacing my pedestal sink with a small vanity, but my bathroom is very tight so I may not meed that requirement. How does the code impact a simple replacement of a sink?
Thanks.
Yes, the side of the vanity closest to the toilet. You aren't relocated any plumbing or moving any walls so you are required to meet that standard, but for comfort i would try to get as close to that dimension as possible, so you literally don't hit your shoulder or arm on the vanity every time you sit on the toilet.
hmmm builtINstudio when you say "code minimum" does that mean its illegal, or just good practice? Because the side of the toilet will end up being right next to the vanity (1-2 inches away)
