Discussion about
Looking for medium/long term storage for some stuff that doesn't fit in our apartment. I know of manhattan mini storage but the prices are high and we would only need access a couple times per year, so proximity is not a primary factor. Anyone have any pointers to quality storage facilities (secure, climate controlled) close to the city where prices are more reasonable?

After the Whitehall storage shithole closed on Charles street I moved my stuff to Manhattan Mini's Inwood location which is a lot cheaper than the rest of the city and is still accessible by subway if you don't want to always go by car. It's big and clean. There are also good prices in Long Island City, Harlem, the Bronx and White Plains but you'll have to call around.

I think there's a large cluster of them in the Bronx, right across from Manhattan. Maybe on or near Bruckner Blvd.?

I used to store my stuff at a new facility in the Bronx....very easy to get to, cooperative staff. I can't remember the name. Go up FDR and onto the Harlem River Drive. Take Madison Avenue Bridge exit. At end of ramp, turn right onto the bridge. At end of bridge, make right. Storage facility is about 1500 feet down the road on the right.

Though it's in Manhattan, Keeper's Self Storage on 10th St and Ave D is definitely cheaper than Manhattan Mini.

If you can get out there, I stored stuff in Englewood (right over GWB) www.lacklandselfstorage.com Address is 90 S. Van Brunt Street Englewood, NJ 07631
Phone: 201 569-6050
Fax: (201) 569-2161
Email: eng@lacklandselfstorage.com

The facility is very well secured, clean, climate controlled and reasonable. The people who run the place are very decent, too. You can have access 6 am-10 pm daily and it's gated.
