Discussion about
I am renovating my kitchen in a white-glove coop on the Upper East Side - the renovation will cost about $35K (excluding appliances). I generally have good relations with my super and tip him during the holidays and when he fixes something for me. How much extra should I tip my super in connection with the kitchen renovation to make sure things go smoothly? Thanks,

I really don't think that's necessary.

If the renovation is not done by or arranged for by the super, I don't think you need to tip him/her at all.

I don't think you need to. Do you even want to tip him?
Why wouldn't your super allow things to go smoothly without a tip given to him. It seems like you tip him often enough.

It is wise to tip the super when doing any renovation. It is a small amount to pay to have someone in your corner if necessary. You might need a building shutdown of the water risers, maybe there is a move-in and your contractor has a delivery and needs to use the elevator. $200.00 should do it

If the contractor also throws the super something, the super is getting too much.

I'll let the pleasure be all yours, Primer.
