Discussion about
We have a frameless shower door in our master bathroom. The plastic sweep attached along the bottom of the glass door has come off and additionally water is leaking from the shower into the bathroom in a number of places where the bottom metal frame meets the saddle. Our handyman has made numerous attempts to replace the sweep and run silicone sealant along the bottom of the shower door. The sweep... [more]

Lobster, try Glass Crafters in New Jersey. They installed my shower doors and have done a repair for me recently.

Hi Lobster!

Are you sure you're opening the door in the right direction?

My inclination would be to open it inwards, so that water drips into the shower pan. But most of the ones I've seen are meant to open outwards, and require a lot of force to open inwards.

Had a similar problem with my 10 year old frameless shower door.
Very easy to fix by yourself, but you need to go to a glass showroom to get the correct door sweep material.Take your old sweep off and they can cut a new one to the right length. There will be a few small cut-outs to make the new one fit properly, but simple using the old one as a template. Be sure to clean the glass with a razor blade to get all of the scum off and then use Windex/other glass cleaner. Just wax the bottom edge of the glass to make it easy to slide the new sweep on. You may have to tap it on using a wood block to cushion your hammer. Also wax the sweep edge and the door will close more easily.

You will NOT find the correct sweep material at Lowe's or Home Depot!
