I noticed that the Wallmaster sleeve itself seems to be mounted inside a much larger sleeve (i'm assuming it's a sleeve, maybe its just part of the hole in the wall). The previous occupant stuffed insulation fibre in the gap between the two sleeves, but there was still a lot of warm air rushing in so I have tried to do a better job here.
My first question is: should i really be thinking about starting all over again, pulling out both sleeves and have someone install a new sleeve that fits properly and is well insulated? I like the look of the Kuhl units from Friedrich, and their sleeves are bigger than the Wallmaster ones, but smaller than my wall opening, so I could put in one of those.
My second question is: any recommendations for who to have do this work? Do people specialize in AC installation or do I just find a GC?

there are lots of people and companies who specialize in heating and cooling. They can really be helpful! I was completely lost trying to get my AC working. Thankfully the company I found provided excellent service and it was a great experience.

a standard wall sleeves only comes in 3 measurements i believe, a fedders or friedrich and a universal. you should measure the full dimensions of the sleeve and then goto a store like PC richards, they will tell you what model will fit that sleeze size. afterwards then you can just shop around for the price, or if you dont care, then just buy it from them.
make sure you get the overall length, width, height, and depth.
the AC maybe 1/4" off which is fine because when it slips into the sleeve it should be a fairly snug fit.
