according to you people who serve in the military are proud americans with many other career choices. this does not sound like a recipe for suicide. according to you, we are somehow winning some war? not at all sure what you could possibly have meant by that.

and yes if our military has an impossible mission that should definitely influence our foreign policy.

and by the way...you never answered whether or not you are willing to fight and send your kids when they are of age. please enlighten us.

do you ever deal in facts? you have no idea how old i am so how could you possibly know that you are younger?

I think there are significantly sufficient clues that can be put together to triangulate, including a rather important one just above on this thread. But if you are so upset that we might be assuming you are old if you aren't, why don't you tell us your age?

soviet union is a socialist (at least closed to socialist) nation, so they care about peace and justice and people. Thus they won't use nuclear weapon for real, they just wanna protect their people from our nuclear blackmail. we are the only fascism country ever used nuclear weapon to genocide innocent japanese civilians.

Incoming from the Stand Up For Heroes/ Wounded Warrior Project:
This benefit isn't taking place because the vets get enough care and consideration upon
return to the USA.

They are reading this discussion and they certainly know why there are suicides.
But, back to the benefit.

I brought in a good supply of tissues in case Chris Christie shows up and hugs it out with Bruce again.
Another hour and a half to go.

While CC has not been exactly kind to me, I do not enjoy watching others run circles around him.

CC, I used to feel as you appear to - wanting a mandatory draft so that everyone with a loved one of a certain age would have to think seriously about whether they would support any given war. However, I have spoken to a number of military personnel, active and retired, ranging from one well-known General to a number of mid-rank officers, as well as a few active and retired enlisted men, and I have not found a single one of them who wants the draft reinstated. Moreover, more than one has voiced frustration at the perception that only those without better opportunities choose the military as a career. Finally, we have a family friend who returned from Irag to find his wife had taken up with another and he had no job; his PTSD is real, and his siblings who want to take care of him cannot have him in the house near their children. He has attempted suicide. There are many working to address this very real problem, and I don't pretend to know what the answer is, but I do not think a moratorium on war will ever be feasible.

Brooks2 - I knew I liked you.

Lucillebluth - You are a great advocate for your positions; were you a debater? I absolutely love reading your posts.

Truth - I am glad you can post in peace again.

Huntersburg - So glad you reappeared. I finally figured out who you remind me of, and if the profile fits, I would not be surprised to learn that in the light of day your name is Michael Smith.

Draft promoters are more interested in some happy happy social justice than in actually having a strong national defense.

if only our government was designed in a way that designated one individual as the (symbolic) head of all federal agencies. well, such a person would surely not rest until he or she had exhausted all the powers in their (limited) capacity to bring immediate help to those in need. they could never be accused of not caring about.....victims of natural disasters with female names. never.
