Discussion about
Looking for an apartment to rent in Manhattan, UWS preferably, but will consider the upper east, as well. Looking for a studio or 1 bedroom, and wanting to do it directly through the management company/building without a brokerage fee. Does anyone have any information on Management Companies out there for me? Looking for doorman buildings or at least nicer buildings in general. Moving into the city from Scarsdale. Thanks in advance!

A question for the ignorant and mis-informed op:. Would you rather the best apartment at the best rent or would you rather pay more for an inferior apartment bud avoid a fee?
Two apartments, both the same, one is 2300 per month but "no fee" the othwr 2000 but broker represented, which do you chose?
Do you have more money, or sense?
Jim Hones, why don't brokers offer payment plans?
After paying first month, security, moving costs, etc. the broker fee might be more palatable in your scenario if it could be paid over 12 months.

and we could make money on interest payments. this isn't the worst idea i have ever heard.
actually, there is a financial product coming to market whereby people can borrow up to $20,000 for a new rental.
nybits.com is literally ALL you need, end of story. Look no further.
Greensdale - good question. If the renter has good enough credit (say 750 or higher) why not say fee is either 15% of first year's rent now OR 20% if paid over 12 months? I can imagine lots of people (or even people with co-signers) going for that.
HOWEVER that said when I was poorer just out of school I did pay the fee with a credit card. Same diff.
Really? People with 750 credit scores need to pay their brokerage fee over 12 months at an additional 5% cost - what does that come out to, 33% interest? When did jason10006 the retard team up with Jim Hones?
