Discussion about
Hello all. I'm trying to price out some windows for a new house and the numbers I'm seeing are all over the place. Does anyone have any experience with buying Pella / Marvin / Anderson or similar quality windows? I'm trying to figure out the cost of buying, removing the existing and installing: - 10 3' by 5' windows - 15 4' by 6' windows - 5 4' by 8' windows Any rough estimates, frameworks to use to think about this stuff or good window contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Where is this home located? I might have a suggestion.

It is in NYC. For 30 windows, installed, any idea what the cost might be?

Range of quality, options, finishes, glazing, etc. is too broad to estimate a price, however I would recommend Original Window in Flushing. They are a Marvin authorized dealer/installer and do work in Manhattan,so the quality level is there,as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the connection - I'll call them. Anyone have a ball park for the cost of these windows, using high quality windows?
Thanks.

$5,000 per window is a good rule of thumb.

"$5,000 per window is a good rule of thumb."

Huh? For a house, not a highrise? Maybe if you buy your windows at Saks Fifth Avenue.

If you paid that for windows in a house, you was robbed.

For a house (not a highrise) we paid around $600 fully installed and painted per window for 3x5s. They're double-hung, double-insulated, 12-pane Andersen windows. This was done by a licensed contractor, not a window company. We bought the windows separately and the contractor picked them up and installed.

NYC Matt = $5,000 per window. I would like to quote on the next job at your coop. I'll give you a good deal: $4,000 per window; $45/sq ft of wood flooring; $1.8 million for pointing. Heck, maybe I'll even become your management company - $350,000 per year.

We paid about $700 installed per window for double-hung double-glazed low-E wood Pella windows. This was for a ranch house in Massachusetts a few years ago. If I were doing it now, I would look into silicone windows.

We bought a Thermatru door from Windorama on Northern Boulevard in Flushing for a good price. I would avoid Crystal Windows at all costs. We moved into a house with year-old Crystal windows and had to replace every single one because all the seals were blown after only a year.

I paid around $1000/window, Marvin double-hung E-glass,outside aluminum covered baked finish , inside natural wood, no divided lights but mullions for division on inside, brass hardware including new interior trim to match existing 50 year old house. These were new prime windows, not replacements that mount inside old frames.

What do people pay for good quality windows in NYC highrise buildings? I expect it's more then for a ranch house in Ma, but is it really $5,000/window?
